🧽 Best Way to Clean Your Gaming Setup (Simple & Effective Tips)




🌸 SPRING CLEAN RESET | Refresh Your Gaming Setup


 A step-by-step guide to cleaning, maintaining, and extending the life of your gaming & streaming gear. Spring cleaning isn’t just for your closets. There are dust, crumbs, and other buildup that can affect gaming performance and equipment quality over time. With a quick seasonal reset, it can help make your gear feel brand almost like new every time you hit “Go Live.”

🧼 STEP 1 | Prep & Power Down 

  • Turn off and unplug all devices before cleaning 

  • Lay everything out so you can see what needs attention, keyboards, mice, controllers, headsets, mics, and accessories

⌨️ STEP 2 | Keyboard & Mouse Care 

  • Use compressed air to blow out dust and crumbs from keyboards 

  • Wipe keys, mouse surfaces, and mouse pads with a lightly damp microfiber cloth



FOR A DEEP CLEAN
  • Remove keycaps (if possible)
  • Use compressed air to clean the exposed switch plate
  • Clean between switches with a cotton swab dipped in isopropyl alcohol
  • Soak keycaps in warm, soapy water for 30 minutes
  • Rinse and air dry completely before reassembling 



🎧 STEP 3 | Headset & Microphone Reset 

  • Wipe ear cups (leather material), headbands, and mic arms with alcohol wipes and dry with microfiber towel

EAR CUSHION
  • Pop out the cushions 
  • Fill the bowl with water and gentle soap 
  • Submerge cushions and scrub 
  • Rinse off 
  • Use a towel to soak up excess water 
  • Let air dry 

MICROPHONE 
  • Unscrew the mic grill and take out foam piece 
  • Use a small toothbrush with mild soapy water 
  • Brush on the interior and exterior of the grill 
  • Clean foam windscreen with lint rollers 
  • Rinse with water and dry 

🎮 STEP 4 | Controllers & Consoles 

  • Clean the exteriors, thumb sticks, and buttons using cotton swabs and isopropyl alcohol on a microfiber cloth

  • Remove buildup around seams with a soft brush or toothpick

  • Wipe consoles and docks to prevent overheating from dust buildup 

🔌 STEP 5 | Cable & Desk Reset 

  • Untangle and organize cables using ties, hooks, magnets, velcro wraps or plastic server rack

  • Wipe down desks, monitor stands, and camera mounts with disinfecting wipes 

  • Reposition gear for comfort and airflow 

💾 STEP 6 | PC & Monitor 

  • Use compressed air to gently remove dust from fans, vents, and filters 

  • Hold fans in place while cleaning to avoid damage 

  • Use cotton swabs and isopropyl alcohol to rid of oily marks and grime for exterior surfaces

MONITOR 
  • Wipe your monitor with dry microfiber cloth for dust 
  • Use a different microfiber cloth slightly damp with distilled water and gently clean 
  • Take another clean microfiber cloth to dry it off
